NASPAA Core Competencies

The School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University-Newark is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA), a leading nonprofit organization with a mission to "ensure excellence in education and training for public service and to promote the ideal of public service." Per NASPAA requirements MPA students must demonstrate proficiency in the five core disciplines of leadership & management, understanding and navigating the policy process, ability to make evidence-informed decisions through analysis and problem solving, advance a public service perspective and be able to communicate and interact and in culturally responsive ways with a changing workforce and society at large.

My Public Service Philosophy is centered around my commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and accountability through advancing organizations that prioritize four crucial pillars for a healthy and equitable society. Including building and protecting clean and safe environments, robust public health systems, accessible education pathways, and equitable economic development opportunities.
